"Idaho Remembers Lincoln" will take place at the Lincoln "Emancipator" statue on the Capitol Mall on April 15 2015 beginning at noon (MDT)

Idaho was created when President Abraham Lincoln established Idaho Territory on March 4, 1863Íž and its citizens have  been commemorating 150th Anniversaries connected to the national observance of the Civil War Sesquicentennial which is ending in April 2015. Unfortunately, this four year period of remembrance also includes the tragic assassination of President Lincoln on April 14, 1865...a few short weeks after his Second Inauguration on March 4, 1865  and after  the surrender of Confederate...

IDAHO CELEBRATES THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE END OF THE CIVIL WAR ON THURSDAY, APRIL 9 AT 1PM

IDAHO WILL CELEBRATE THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE END OF THE CIVIL WAR WITH A BELL-RINGING CEREMONY AT THE SOLDIER'S MONUMENT IN  BOISE'S MORRIS  HILL CEMETERY, STARTING AT 1:00 PM TO COINCIDE WITH  THE RINGING OF THE BELLS ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO MARK THIS HISTORIC EVENT.

Saturday, March 28 is Park Day 2015 and we need a few volunteers...

Idaho Civil War 150th Commission is looking for a few good volunteers (families invited) to do a little light cleanup of the leftover winter/ early spring debris at the Civil War veterans sector of the cemetery/park at Morris Hill Cemetery on the Boise Bench. Commemorative Civil War Trust T-shirts, and bottled water will be given to the volunteers who can donate an hour of their Saturday morning for a good cause.

Kudos to BSU's Theater Art Dept for staging "Little Women: the Musical" from March 5-8, 2015

It is worth noting that the Theater Art Department at Boise State University actually staged the 4-day run of this popular Broadway musical adaptation of Civil War nurse and author Louisa May Alcott's novel "Little Women" during the very same week that the state of Idaho launched the inaugural "IDAHO DAY" celebration at the state capitol. For the December 17, 2014 meeting o the Idaho Civil War Roundtable, the topic will be "December 1864: How newly re-elected President Abraham Lincoln and his family spent their last Christmas in the White House." As always, the meeting will be held starting at 6:30pm at the downtown branch of the Boise Public Library located at 715 S. Capitol Blvd in the 3rd floor Marion Bingham room.
